What’s a “LAT”?

Do you and your significant other or spouse spend much of your time apart? Do you live in different homes, different cities, states, or possibly even different countries? If so, you are considered a “LAT” – a Living Apart Together couple. Recent reports indicate that 1.3 million Americans are living separately for a wide variety of reasons. My wife and I have lived separately now for five years – in fact, we have always lived over 1000 miles apart.

Whatever your reasons for living separate, this website is for you. The goal is to provide support, encouragement, and the healthy exchange of ideas of how to successfully navigate living apart – and being together.

Some of you might think, “What’s the big deal, we’ve been doing this for years and have it figured out”. While that’s largely true for many of us who have been doing it a while, if you look back you will remember navigating some of the challenges, developing routines, dealing with tough situations remotely and how you did it. There are a lot of newly “apart” people who can benefit from you sharing your experience and thoughts on living apart – together.

Please join Cafi and I as we chronicle our journey, in hope of helping others down the same road.
